HOW LONG DO LIBERTY BRICKS BURN?
As with any wood, burn time depends on how much air the fire is given. In an open fireplace, Liberty Bricks will burn for about 90 minutes. In a well-stocked, damped-down wood stove (but not stuffed to capacity!) they will burn all night. You’ll want to experiment.
HOW MUCH HEAT IS GENERATED BY LIBERTY BRICKS?
Like all wood, they give off about 8400 BTU’s per pound. Since Liberty Bricks have only 5% moisture, less heat is lost to the vaporization of moisture. One ton of Liberty Bricks contains about 16 million BTU’s. Typical hardwood firewood that is not stacked is about 2800 pounds per cord but has about 25% moisture and has about the same heating value as a ton of Liberty Bricks in a typical stove. With heating oil, you’ll need about 110 gallons to get the same amount of heat; with propane, about 180 gallons; with natural gas, about 160 CCF; or about 4900 KWh of electricity. Of course, appliance efficiency will affect the amount of heat you get out of any fuel.
HOW ARE LIBERTY BRICKS MADE?
Liberty Bricks are held together by the force applied to them during the manufacturing process. Wood fiber is fed into a mold, where a ram puts 500,000 pounds of force on the fiber and compresses it into a Liberty Brick. The bricks are held together by the rejoined fibers in the wood and natural resins. No glues or binders are added.
HOW MUCH WOOD IS EQUIVALENT A TON OF LIBERTY BRICKS?
Although split wood is often bought by the cord, there’s no good way to know exactly how much wood you’re getting since a cord is defined by the 8’ X 4’ X 4’ dimensions of the stack but not by how densely it’s packed. One “rule” to describe the density of a cord of wood is that a mouse can get into the stack, but not the cat that’s chasing it. The heat value of wood is determined by the weight and dryness, and since Liberty Bricks are sold by weight, you can be sure that you’re getting one ton (2000 lbs.) of Liberty Bricks on each pallet. Liberty Bricks are conveniently packaged in shrink wrapped bundles of ten bricks and each pallet is wrapped and covered. Liberty Bricks take up half the storage space of cordwood, are clean, have no bugs, and may be stored indoors or outdoors.

Our raw material comes from a wood working facility that makes moldings and finished boards. What we don't use has to be hauled away.
MUCH BETTER THAN PELLETS.
Liberty Bricks have an advantage over pellets because they don’t require electricity to burn and distribute the heat that they produce.
- Pellet stoves require electricity for a fan and an augur to feed the fire. What if the power goes out? You couldn’t run your pellet stove unless you had a generator.
- Liberty Bricks can also go right in your current wood stove, wood boiler, fireplace insert, or open fireplace. To burn pellets you need a special pellet stove. While there are baskets available to burn pellets in a wood stove, this doesn’t produce the heat needed to warm your house.

Liberty Bricks are made from recycled waste wood that might otherwise have gone to a landfill. Burning Liberty Bricks conserves valuable coal, oil, gas, and electricity. The use of Liberty Bricks helps to reduce the environmental damage resulting from the production and burning of these fossil fuels.

Liberty Bricks, like all wood fuel, is considered carbon neutral because the carbon released during combustion is the same carbon absorbed by the tree over its life, and the carbon dioxide released during combustion is the same as that released during natural decay. But perhaps the greatest environmental benefit to Liberty Bricks is the displacement of fossil fuels, which, when burned, release carbon into the atmosphere that had been sequestered millions of years ago. Liberty Bricks are made from nothing but dry, seasoned wood and burn almost completely, the key to a clean fire. All split wood, has higher moisture than Liberty Bricks. Split wood leaves more ash in your fireplace because bark produces more ash than the wood and our product does not contain bark. Liberty Bricks are also easier to light than firewood!
